This Monday morning I want to share with you why it’s so important to put in place the right routines, and habits in order to achieve your weight loss, or general fitness goals.
The well known phrase that states “first you make your habits, then your habits make you” is true for success in any and every part of life career, family, and health. In the past 2 years after moving to Charlotte I found this to be undeniably true, so I’m going to share just a couple health habits that everyone should be doing.
- Get up early – I’m sure thats not what you wanted to hear but this has been the single most beneficial thing I’ve done in the past 2 years. My alarm goes off at 5 am every day, which gives me time to get the most important things finished before the distractions of everyday life start popping up.
- Exercise – If I get up, walk across the room, turn my alarm off, and feel like I need to get back in bed I will either do 30 jumping jacks, or 30 push ups to get my blood pumping. It energizes the brain and body to GET STARTED!
- Drink water – You can’t go wrong here. Before you eat anything drink 12-16 oz of water. You’ve just gone 6-8 hours without drinking anything so your body needs it. Drinking water before you eat in the morning boosts your metabolism, flushes toxins, and boosts brain power. Theres no reason not to do this!
- Eat breakfast! – You’ve heard this your whole life from a thousand different sources. Eating breakfast has a vast list of benefits to long to note in this short newsletter. For now ill just give you the basics. Eating breakfast helps you lose weight. It boosts your metabolism, gives you sustainable energy for your morning, reduces risk of type 2 diabetes, as well as your chances of of heart disease etc, etc…
If you’re not doing these things already this may seem like a lot, but these are very attainable goals. I encourage you to try to adopt just one of these habits for this coming week. Even if it’s just having a glass of water first thing!
