I hate to be the one to tell you but there is no pill, drink, food, or supplement that can replace, and replicate the benefits of an active life style. If you’re the person that knows what you should do but hasn’t done it yet here’s 10 more reasons why you should adopt an active, vibrant, healthy lifestyle!
1. Prevention of chronic diseases.
It is a well known and proven fact that sedentary individuals have higher risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, breast cancer, colon cancer, high cholesterol, and stroke. If that alone is not enough reason to make you want to get up off the couch I don’t know what is!
2. It Helps you maintain brain function and focus.
This is true especially for the aging population. There has been many studies on the effects of exercise on the brain the results have proven that regular activity increases memory and focus. I have a friend at the gym who is 82 years and is sharper than most people half his age. I complimented him and his intellect one time, and he told me it was all accredited to his 30 minutes in the gym and keeping the circulation going
Its not all about the confidence you have after you’ve been working out for a while and your body begins to show it, and you like the way you look. That is a benefit, but more importantly it’s the confidence you’ll have to go do something active with your kids, or spouse. Or go on that hike to the a beautiful place you saw in a magazine or online. Even the confidence to do ordinary every day task that should be easy.
4. It helps you sleep!
Who doesn’t want better sleep? There has been research that concluded people that exercise 150 minutes a week fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer and have better sleep quality! Sounds like something you hear for a sleep aid commercial doesn’t it? Exercise is free!
5. Strength and endurance!
Its no secret that regular exercise paired with a good diet increases your strength and stamina which will help you look better, but more importantly feel better and open the door for more activities that you have never, or haven’t recently been able to enjoy!
6. You’ll age slower!
Have you ever asked someone how old they were and got blown away by their answer? If you were surprised in a good way they probably are too energetic or they look “too good” to be their age. They probably don’t take the latest supplement or use the most expensive skin cream. You’ll be more likely to find that they take care of their body and live an active lifestyle and make solid food choices.
7. It fires up your metabolism!
We’ll dig a little deeper with this one sense it’s a common question. When you perform high intensity exercise like circuit training or lifting weights it “burns up” the glucose in your muscles as the fuel source this means the body has to send more fuel to the muscles. It takes energy (calories) to refuel the muscles with more glucose which means you burn calories while you exercise as well as after!
8. You’ll have a lot more fun!
You don’t need science to prove this one. When you adopt and active life style the door is opened to a whole new world of heart pumping activities that will make you feel alive!
9. It’s a stress fighter!
Exercise increases production of the neurotransmitters called endorphins, which are your brain’s feel-good neurotransmitters. Exercise it also a distraction from the stresses of daily life. So next time you’re feeling overwhelmed try getting a workout in!
